Officials? Any thoughts on the finals matches? Favorites and dark horses?

Officials was a good tournament. A lot of issues outside of the wrestling made it not as clear an indicator of how states might go. Leilehua is looking strong right now. As far as surprises nothing that I saw. Everyone that was expected to do well did fairly well. Now that officials is over with it'll fall on the contending teams to make their adjustments before the end of the season.

132 - Tadaki(Castle)
138 - Estrella(Lahainaluna)
145 - Terukina(Campbell)
152 - Manley(Molokai)
160 - Cooper(Pearl City)
170 - Takenaka(Iolani)
182 - Kikuyama(Pearl City)

Changes:
106: Porter (Kamehameha)
113 - Nagatani(Leilehua) or Tihada(Lahainaluna)
120 - Terukina(Kamehameha)
126 - Cabanban(StL)
132 - Estrella(Lahainaluna)
138 - Tavares (Radford) although Yamaguchi(Kapolei) has a shot
145 - Terukina(Campbell) although it would be nice to see Pagurayan (Kapolei) wrestle him
152 - Manley(Molokai) but Nitahara(Kamehameha) and Angelo (Iolani) will be pretty tough
160 - Cooper(Pearl City)
170 - Watch for people dropping into this weight from 182
182 - Respicio's(Campbell) Although Kapolei had two wrestlers that basically didn't lose (weigh-in issues and defensive fall while tilting).
195 - Barefoot(Leilehua) and Wright(Campbell) are the class of the field
220 - Tokanang(Baldwin)
285 - Kekahuna(StL) but Jenks will be tough at the end.

Thoughts on the girls?

Thoughts on the girls division? I'll give this a try. I'll factor in potential weight class changes for some of the competitors. Some wild hunches, some not so much.

97: Kamaka (Moanalua)
102: Mai (Roosevelt)
107: Fernandez (Baldwin)
112: Gooman (Kamehameha-Kapalama)
117: Higa (Roosevelt)
122: Estrella (Lahainaluna)
127: Estrella-Beauchamp (Baldwin)
132: Alo (Kahuku)
138: Respicio (Kamehameha-Kapalama)
145: Pellegrino-Hayase (Lahainaluna)
155: Corbett (Leilehua)
168: Fuamatu (PC)
184: Vida (Baldwin)
225: Fotu (Farrington)

I agree with most of those, but is Kamaka from Moanalua really going to drop all the way to 97 from 107? I also don't see Mai beating Navarro at 102. I think this could be the year Tiare Ikei takes out Gooman at 112. I think Teniya Alo stays at 138 and wins it there leaving Rosalani Ikei to win it at 132.

You're probably right about Kamaka. I thought she was at 102. 10 lbs is a lot to cut and I would rather see her not put herself through that. I guess that leaves it wide open for Mahoe as Ramos was not up for the challenge last weekend. Omura is tough but might be a year away. Obra-Nakata may be a dark horse as Punahou seems to be on the rise as a program. They looked better last weekend than they have in the last couple of years. Mai and Navarro were deadlocked until halfway through the last period when Mai got caught. It's anybody's match in that one. Ikei is an athletic specimen and her wrestling has improved, but I think Gooman's technical acumen will overcome another "physically superior" opponent, just like it did last year against Ivy Navarro. As far as Alo goes, I think she'll win at either 132 or 138.

Got to watch the moanalua duals the past few days. Kam boys looked pretty good but not sure if this will translate into state champs, St. Louis & Leileihua will make a run at them. There were some exciting matches from both sides. Mainland team & St Louis got into a rumble but it was quickly contained, Corbett had a close OT win. Heard Cooper got injured but did not see what happened, got to see Terukina wrestle couple matches also caught three of Garcia's matches & Cabanban for 3 over the two days. The three really stood out & dominated all opponents, did not see them get scored on. girl side, gooman getting back into the flow. No lahinaluna no roosevelt..

BOYS IMO
Terukina boys-Cabanban-Garcia-Cooper
Estrella....
Polls are always "subjective"

Barefoot(Leilehua) beat Respicio(Campbell) 7-5 or 7-6. Takedown at the end.
Respicio(Campbell) beat Oyadomari(Kapolei 170) 5-4.
Terukina(Campbell) beat Pagurayan(Kapolei) 3-0.

Spix(Leilehua) beat Carlson(Waianae). Not sure of the score, but it was close.
Corbett(Leilehua) beat Bushe(Kapolei). Major decision

I'm sure there were others, but I was only there for the second half.

Thanks for the update, looks like 182 is going to be between Respecio and Barefoot did Oyadomari bump up to 182 to wrestle Respecio?

Well hard to say no big tourney since then, but a4 OIA dual meet championships this weekend should have some good match ups with teams like campbell, lelehua, Moanalua, Kapolei.
