With the first games just a few weeks away...... Why not??
Pre season Top 10
1. Kahuku (loaded again)
2. Punahou (8 return on O, 7 on D)
3. St. Louis (Tua, Slade-Matautia.....top 2 players in the state)
4. Waianae (A lot of returnees back from last years playoff run)
5. Kapolei (Loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, plus JJ OC)
6. Kamehameha (New HC, No shortage of athletes there)
7. Farrington (Fa'amatau and Co. will be in the OIA title hunt again)
8. Mililani (Lost the Big 3, but i'll nvr count Coach York and his staff out)
9. Moanalua (New HC, return QB Yuen and others)
10. Iolani (Mizutani, one of the best young QBs in the state)

It is too early to really tell. But in 2 weeks we get to see the season begin!!! Here we go!!!

Does Nick Kapule count as a returning starter for us? He started a bunch of games but didn't start as many as Ephraim IIRC.

As for Kapolei, this is a make-or-break year for them. They've been classic underachievers but might have the most talent they've ever had.

Yup. I'd consider kapule a returning starter. he looked better than tuliloa when he was in last season. now, rumor has it that kapule is getting pushed by the back up qb (barber)?? just what I heard, idk, it was only the 1st day of their camp yesterday. Another rumor flying around is that slade-matautia will not return to st.louis this season??? not sure where he will end up, but if this is true, this would drop st.louis in my poll. yes, one person shouldn't make that much of a difference, but this person would. that would place punahou as the odds on favorite in my book to take the ilh championship. Let the rumors begin!!!!! lol

As June Jones would say, having two good QBs is a good problem to have. But being indecisive about it can hold us back. We had a QB controversy in 2007 and only played to our potential when we decided on a true starter.

Kahuku
Waianae
St. Louis
Punahou
Kamehameha
Kapolei
Farrington
Kailua
Leilehua
Campbell

Iolani? ; ) Can't throw if there's no blocking. Mizutani also leads the league in the most interceptions as well. It's a nice gesture but I don't think Iolani deserves to be anywhere near the top 10 especially this year.

Iolani might be a good team in Dog 96707's view, but their record won't reflect it. They MIGHT beat Kamehameha this year, but that's highly unlikely. A victory over Punahou or St. Louis? Out of the question. If Iolani were to beat either of those teams, it'd be one of the biggest upsets ever. This isn't a knock on them but a statement that the ILH might be as good as it was last year.

I always root for the underdog too but there is no way Kam or Punahou will see a lost against Iolani. In scrimmages, Iolani got destroyed by Waianae and barely got pass Roosevelt. Iolani will be back to D2 in no time.

BullNuts808,

I agree with your outlook for 'Iolani. In this decade (2010-2015) they have a record of 1-20 vs. the D-I ILH teams and their one win was five years ago. Their future in D-I doesn't look much better, as over half of their team (26 players) are seniors this year, meaning next year they will have only a handful of freshman coming up to augment their remaining players (there are fewer than 20 current sophomores and juniors).
