Re: 2015 Judo season
I hope there's coverage this season. There was no Kapolei team. Was hoping to see them in action. Kamehameha was missing all their wrestlers. Boys finals Pearl City vs Moanalua was close up until the last 2 matches when 220lb Pearl City player got dq then there was no chance for a Pearl City win. Mililani girls had no chance with 5 weight classes that they blanked, Pearl City had a full squad.twnoexcuses wrote:Can't wait for all the Staradvertiser's expert and extensive coverage of the sport.
Re: 2015 Judo season
Was hoping to see the State Champions play but I guess Kapolei decided to by-pass it. Maybe scouting future opponents especially Moanalua and Pearl City. Speaking of Moanalua, noticed several of their state placers weren't suited up. I'm guessing they came off wrestling and were resting. Scary to think their back-ups were still able to pull it off. Also, wanted to see Punahou as they return several State Champions and placers. Should be another exciting season.

Re: 2015 Judo season
Checked out the Duals at Kalani High School since both Moanalua and Kalani were battling for 1st place. Moanalua prevailed but had some good matches. Most notable at 132 and 198 lbs. Both won by Moanalua but could be a preview of the OIA Championship and possibly States Heard Kapolei went undefeated as well but was tested by Pearl City. Now it's post season time so we can start to see where everyone stands.

Re: 2015 Judo season
Was at the ILH championship last night and it seems the referees are not consistent. Mat 1 constant shido called while mat 2 to barely any. Seen a lot of flagrant throws that didn't even faze the refs. The same throws would have sent players from OIA league packing out of the state tournament...

Re: 2015 Judo season
Two more days till states! Any predictions on team champions and individual? I got Moanalua boys and Pearl City girls both may come down to a few points.
Re: 2015 Judo season
I would have to say on the boys side it should boil down to Kapolei and Moanalua. They battled hard at the OIA Team Championship with Kapolei escaping with a close 50-45 victory. But like last year, we just don't know how the neighbor Islands team will be..Both Hilo and Waiakea is bringing down good teams so this might get interesting. As far as girls I would have to give the nod to Pearl City with Moanalua, Aiea, Roosevelt and Punahou in contention.
