Looks like Tua has already gotten a bunch of offers from big time football schools even as a sophmore!

Schools like UCLA, USC, Hawaii, Texas Tech. But he's holding out for Oregon, so he can follow Marcus Mariotta.

Holding a child back a year or more commonly starting kindergarten later is a practice that is common on the mainland and it isn't about maturity from a sports perspective.

It is more about having a child because he is more mature developing leadership characteristics intellectually, socially and athletically. In many cases it is because a child at five isn't ready to enter kindergarten and there could be many reasons for this. Parents do not want their child to develop an inferiority complex at an early age.

The data gathered on this practice support the fact that IN GENERAL a child that started kindergarten at 6 or 5 1/2 exceeded in the classroom and on the field. That maturity and their better performance is reinforced at an early age and carries throughout their K-12 experience resulting in better performance, better odds of getting better college entrance scores, getting more scholarships, better financial aid and attending better colleges.

More and more parents are doing it to get a competitive advantage for their children so that their child has more opportunities. In many cases the net result is more financial aid for a child who might not have had the opportunity to go to college.

It isn't about just sports.
