11-12 signings??? Press conference??? 2007-2008 Kapolei had the following players sign DI. Stan Hasiak (UCLA), Chad Lopati (Hawaii), Dustin Elisara (Hawaii), Simione Vehikite (USC), Cyril Ontai (Navy). Only Vehikite and Elisara ended up sticking it out and playing DI. They didn't win a championship, but were the only Oahu team to beat Kahuku at home in a decade. But yeah, no championship won, so I guess they suck.

IMHO the most highly recruited kid out of Kapolei was Shaydon Akuna.
Wasn't there talks of him getting almost 15+ BCS offers?
So far in 3 years at Oregon St, he has played a total of 4 games.
Why do you think Kapolei become average once in college?
What is it, content just to get a scholie, over hype, 3 inch rule, great media person creating highlight videos?

Kapolei has very talented players, always had. Next year is Micah Kapoi's senior year 6'4 295 who did excellent the past 2 years and is every inch the 6'4 listed, but the other kid mentioned, Vakamelalo, had a mediocre year as a junior, but so much hype about the player.

St. Louis will be loaded with talent again this year, but it will be tough to unseat a very talented Punahou squad. It could come down to defense because both offenses will be able to put up big points. St. Louis will have the dangerous triplets this year (Kuhns-Stubblefield-Noga), while Punahou will have the unstoppable duo of Tuileta to Noa. As for Kapolei, they came in 3rd in the OIA red west last year, so I would say they proved that they belong in that conference.

In addition to the triplet you mentioned, they also have slotback/scatback Allan Cui and WR Drew Kobayashi (who has been heralded as Tabuyo's equal as a prospect) as well as a talented and experienced duo in Wallen Teo and Anthony Pataray at TE. You'd think that there is no way that Saint Louis' offense could underachieve this year with Ryder Kuhns being the only playable QB around but this current coaching staff is something special.

They will run more plays for WR Jordan Eugenio than Kobayashi. Eugenio is a decent player, but Kobayashi is 6'2" 180, long arms and with a skill set as a receiver and route runner. They'll do it because Eugenio is a returnee amd a senior.

They won't open the competition at backup RB. While any of Allan Cui/Vae Malepeai(who may have transferred)/Raymond Caayon would provide a dynamic option after Noga, Saint Louis will rely on Kaulana Vinoya, a hard working but limited back who has failed to impress as the JV starter in 2011 who couldn't produce with a completely dominant supporting cast of Kuhns, Stubblefield, Cui, Teo, Pataray, Fred Ulu-Perry and Larry Goeas. In 2012, Vinoya was underwhelming as the backup to Noga. Caayon may have personality or blocking issues because he was also inexplicably behind Vinoya at the JV level, but Cui is more than equipped to carry the ball 6-8 times a game. He's actually bigger than Vinoya and runs his 40 a half second faster.

If you guys don't believe me, here's a couple things that happened last year:

Stubblefield and Tabuyo COMBINED FOR LESS THAN HALF of the team's receptions. Neither player missed significant time. This may have been the only time in the history of football that a team had two FBS WR prospects and they didn't grab half the passes COMBINED. You almost have to be trying to fail at this point.

In Saint Louis' wildcat package, there were many instances when neither Tabuyo OR Noga were on the field. In fact, Noga wasn't on the field for a single wildcat snap. You almost have to be trying to fail at this point.

Maybe they won't play enough defense to beat Punahou, but they should average at least 45 points a game, not including the inflationary of PAC Five and Damien.

I agree with you. Even though the offense did perform well last year, the talent was very underutilized (Tabuyo/Stubblefield/Kuhns). Though I'm still skeptical on Kuhns, since he only played due to KMG injuries/inconsistancies, I am excited to see him in a starting/leader role this year.

The offense as a whole has changed from their hybrid spread option/RnS days where the players could make plays in space. This past season, with heavy sets out of the pistol, Noga seemed overworked at times and the receivers (Tabuyo/Stubblefield) didn't get enough touches when they werent getting subbed out frequently.

You take a look at the way Punahou used Kanawai Noa (a sophomore last year) and the amount of big plays he made for the BuffnBlu offense. You can see its a talent first depth chart ran by Kale Ane and staff. Hopefully the Saint Louis staff have learned that and we can see some playmakers emerge.

The defense was terible last year. That is actually a bigger issue than the O.

You need to add in Dallas Kaapuni (Nanakuli), the kid is a beast in either the red or white division. Looked up his name on youtube and came up with Nanakuli's must be their Black/Gold or Black/White game as well as his junior highlites at kapolei. The video had him rotating both at guard and tackle positions.

Alton Julius of Kapolei definitely belongs on that list also. Saw the kid at the combine working out at quarterback during the 1 on 1's and was blowing up the receivers hands. Even blew up one kid in his chest. Caught my attention when he threw one over 50 yards WITH EASE to an open receiver at the back of the end zone. Coaches on the field looked pretty impressed, and was all talking to him afterwards, including the Scout.com guy. Checked him out on you tube and scoring live, found out he was the leading receiver for Kapolei last season as a sophomore. Talented kid.

Agree, Alton Julius is a true superstar for Kapolei, and not to list him, is crazy. Mana Reis is also another very good athlete for the Hurricanes.

I think St. Louis will have a very explosive offense. They have the MOST talent at the skill positions of ANY offense in Hawaii. And even though they lost Reeve Koehler, the OL will be the best in the ILH, if not the state, with returnees Louis Vailopa, Fred Ulu-Perry, and Larry Goeas. Punahou is solid on both sides of the ball, so I give them the edge, but if they have an off-game, the Saints could come away with the ILH title.

As for Kapolei, there are lots of enthusiastic (fans/moms/dads) pumping up their players, but until they can finish higher than 3rd in the OIA west, they are just on the brink, and are probably one of those teams (along with Aiea, Campbell, Kailua, Waipahu, Moanalua,etc) looking in from the outside when the OIA championship comes around. The OIA title still goes through Kahuku, and to a lesser extent Leilehua, Farrington, and Mililani.

I agree, a lot of moms, dads, and players themselves trying to promote their school and kids. As soon as Kapolei can come within forty points against the Trojans and the Mules they may be taken seriously, but until then, it will be hard for people to take them seriously as a contender in the West.

I am not a big advocate of Kapolei, but that school has talent and some very athletic players. I believe talent wise, they belong in the red, how they use that talent, well, that is another thing.
