Awesome looking through this thread. A lot of memories. It inspired me, along with bumbuchas request to update it to the present, to continue what ktown started.

Kaiser High School, 1978? Is that Rob Demello's brother? All State HHSAA. OE. Rob DeMello is the sports news reporter. Was with Robert Kekaula when Robert Kekaula was alive. The name sound there. I'm sorry. If I'm right. But if this is your brother, he died didn't he? Danny Demello, Kaiser High School, All state, HHSAA, 1978.

Mike Tressler, Kapa'a High School head coach. They won the Division II title at Kapa'a High School championships against Kamehameha-Maui on Dec. 2021. Last year. They played at Farrington High School Governors. Over in Kalihi. ( North King Street ) It was raining that night. Mike played football in high school at Kaua'i High School. Marlene Leary also went to Kaua'i High School in her days at High School. 2016 season under Morris Unotoa, playing for Kapa'a High School KIF.

HHSAA All state HHSAA HS football. Wow. That much from 1977. There were a lot of names. But the names I had came out of a different league. The close one I can come up with was I think I saw Rich Miano up close back in 2007. He was a coach I think already. All the way back then. At Aloha Stadium. I was at a game at Aloha Stadium. Sitting at the Mauka end yellow section. And we had guest passes shown to us by Scott chan. The stadium manager. It was a freebie. So I saw Rich Miano there. I think it was in 2007. I cannot remember, but a while back. I don't keep up. I just keep up with who I saw at the game. 2018 I also got another visit to the stadium. One time job. O yeah, Eagles concert too. I was working the Guns and Roses Concert. And I saw Scott Chan again as the manager of the stadium. Well, actually it was Valerie, the head boss there. She was for us. But that's a one time job. And you know what they say, don't ever burn bridges. I might want another one time job at a concert again. And she might be there again. Rich Miano. I think he works at the stadium. Like full time.

That's easy. I never heard of KIF Kaua'i. I'm for OIA. Honolulu Though I did mention Kapa'a High School and their division II state title 2021 dec.

1984 Nick Maafala, McKinley High School Tigers. He died already didn't he? 2001. At age 33. 2001. He died of Leukemia. It's been a long time. OIA. That name sounds really familiar. I don't know if this is true or not. But I think with Nick and his diagnosis with Leukemia, it's all intertwined in the lifestyle of football and health. It's not all health. I think Nick being Polynesian, I read some where that he catching a disease, that might have something to do with lifestyle, outdoors, too much sunlight, bad eating, just about everything else may have been out of whack for Nick. So this news when I first heard it in 2001, somewhere in Hawai'i Kai, I was doing something in the stores, I knew it was a health issue all the way. So these things happen to football players. And more than you may expect. Colt Brennan is one of them. So no racial issues exist here. Really. :hello1:
