Waianae is a shell of what the '96 team was. Has Mililani replaced them as the OIA kings of the west?
Punahou Football: 12-1, 2008 ILH and State Champions! 11-0, 2013 ILH and State Champions, a team for the ages!

The answer has to be yes. Mililani has been better than Waianae last year AND this year.

Mililani never started winning in the playoffs until they beefed up their Offensive and Defensive linemen. The problem is that they dont grow those type of linemen out in Mill town so they pretty much rely on transfers. The answer to your question is as long as they can continue to recruit a few stud linemen to their program every year then yes they will continue to win out west.

Their JV doesn't look too bad, either. They lost to St Louis by only 4 points. St Louis' JV is good every year; to lose to them by only 4, says a lot.

By the way, how big are Mililani's vars D-linemen this year?

Some say Waianae hasn't been a contender the past 15 years because of Kapolei, but that's BS. If that were the case, wouldn't Campbell take a hit, too, and lose a lot of talented kids to Kapolei? Last season, Campbell only went to the final four and won about 10 games before running out of gas against Mililani. Waianae hasn't nearly had that kind of success despite going to the finals with a SUPER SMALL team. Waianae hasn't won 10 games since 1999 I believe.

Saint Louis' JV QB is horrible. If they stick with the run and shoot (used a lot of two-back sets in the summer), Punahou will drill them this season.

I recall the late-'70s, when Waianae used to have MASSIVE O-lines. Their RBs were pretty big, too. That's when Waianae used to rule OIA football.

@saynotemercs: REALLY? St Louis' JV quarterback sucks? But, how's the REST of the team? I can't remember the last time St Louis' JV--as a TEAM--sucked. Also, St Louis School has been a QB factory for some 30 years now, so it's hard to imagine them having a sucky QB at ANY level, even JV.

St John Bosco vs Saint Louis - St John Bosco, but I'd love to wrong about this one.

Moanalua @ Campbell - Campbell

Waianae @ Kaiser - Waianae, but like others have said, only if they get most/all of their rotation players back. If not, then Kaiser.

McKinley @ Leilehua - Leilehua

Waipahu @ Kahuku - Kahuku. I understand and agree with why Waipahu forfeited last week's game, but if they do it even one more time they should be forced to move down to D2 next season. Not as punishment but it'll be clear at that point that that's where they belong.

Kapolei @ Farrington - Farrington. That Gov RB is faaaast. The way he was outrunning everybody reminded me of that Leong kid from Kaiser last season.

Edison(CA) @ Baldwin - Edison

Kailua @ Mililani - Mililani

They should drop both waipahu and mckinley and go back to a 12 team division.

Yeah; McKinley is going to get murdered by Leilehua.
