Boise State now has to replace 9 on Dline

Post by BigWave96744 »

Over the weekend, Boise State officials confirmed that Dereck Boles (pictured, kneeling) has been dismissed from the Broncos football program. The only reason given was your standard “violation of unspecified team rules.”

The Idaho Press-Tribune noted that the Broncos “lost seven seniors from the defensive line and an eighth – junior Kamalei Correa – left early for the NFL Draft.”

J-Rod, how was the 2016 recruiting class in regards to DLine replacement?

Realistically for a non-P5 program, couldn't have been better. Best Go5 DL class I've ever seen. They landed three guys that are Tulimasealii caliber in Hatada, Watson, and Weaver. Fesili would be the gem DT in most classes...he was a footnote in this class. USC tried to pry all three of those names from the Broncos. Went very hard after Weaver in particular, ringing up his phone as early as 3 a.m. on signing day to make one last push.

Broncos were smart to go after top recruits and tell them, "Hey, you come here...you'll play immediately". Kinda hoping Rolo goes with the same approach with Tua.

That said, Boles is a big loss in terms of experience. Much like offense in 2015, BSU will be very talented...but also very young at DT/NT.
