The WAC has been around for 48 years now. Almost reached the 50 mark. Doesn't matter how successful(or not) any current or former WAC team was, the WAC helped shape the face of a lot of sports programs. Schools like BYU, Boise State, Utah, etc. would not be the programs they are now without the WAC's help. Its sad things have to end this way, but lets get real.....the WAC is about to flat line. I'm not even sure you can say they are still on life support.
Thanks to the WAC for all the great memories! Sorry it had to end this way.....
RIP WAC

Re: RIP WAC
Whoa guys.. funeral no start till after next season.. still got 2011 and it ends after the track events that lead into summer, I think....
Who know what might happen, eh? Maybe all the top teams in the MWC might abandon ship and form their own AQ conference along with BYU under a new name with a new TV contractand the lower tier teams of the current MWC might have only the WAC as their salvation.

Yep. Teams moving around from conference to conference and new conferences forming and going away has just begun. Who knows where and when it will end. Hold on to your hats cause this ride is going to get bumpy and out of hand real soon.

Re: RIP WAC
I really hope the WAC survives... even without Hawaii.
Even though it may take 5 years before they become Automatic qualifiers for Men's Basketball, 5 years isn't all that long and if they schedule the right out-of-conference competition, they can get an invite to the NCAA or NIT until then.

When in doubt, burn it down.
