WAC Suspends Idaho Defensive Back Shiloh Keo
November 17, 2010

DENVER -Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Karl Benson today handed down a half-game suspension to Idaho defensive back Shiloh Keo as a result of a flagrant foul he committed against a Boise State player in last Friday's game played in Moscow.

Benson originally suspended Keo for one game, but the decision was appealed by Idaho and reduced to a half-game by the WAC Sportsmanship Committee.

"After reviewing this play, it was determined that a flagrant personal foul should have been called by the game officials which would have resulted in the player being ejected," said Benson.

The play occurred at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Keo delivered a blow to the head of Boise State's Michael Coughlin as the Bronco quarterback attempted to run for a first down.

Further Benson said, "By NCAA rules, I am required to review these types of situations and it was determined that the player clearly committed a flagrant foul and should have been ejected from the game and thus will now be suspended. Protecting a player from a hit to the head is a point of emphasis of the NCAA and cannot be tolerated."

Keo will be suspended for the first half of this week's game at Utah State, Saturday, Nov. 20.

Is it the Coaching staff's fault or the player's faulty personality?
