Marcus Mariota's emergence as one of the NFL's top young stars helped a lot of people realize a good quarterback can be found
in the state of Hawaii.
A few years later, it's become obvious the islands have quite a few guys who can spin a football.
The 24-year-old Mariota — now entering his fourth season with the Tennessee Titans after winning the Heisman Trophy at Oregon
— was the start of a mini-wave of quarterbacks from Hawaii who are now making a name for themselves at the college level all
over the football-crazed Southeast.

Ta'amu also looked impressive. I remember the time where maybe we had one D1 QB (usually from St. Louis) starting. Now we have three with one more vying for playing time (Cordeiro) Plus one in the NFL.

Freshman QB Austin Ewing from Konawaena seems to be outplaying former UH QB Aaron Zwahlen over at Southern Utah

Tua Tagovailoa & McKenzie Milton named semifinalists for Davey O'Brien Award

Hawaii natives Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama and UCF's McKenzie Milton are among 16 college football
quarterbacks that were named semi-finalists for the 2018 Davey O'Brien Award which honors the
nation's top quarterback annually.
Tagovailoa, a two-time Cover2 Award winner out of Saint Louis has thrown for 2,361 yards, 27 touchdowns
and one interception while completing 68 percent (132-of-194) of his passes in just nine games.
