Egonator wrote:Does anyone else think that we have a chance at beating Wisconsin? I have some reasons as to why we have a chance this Saturday...
1.) Wisconsin can be contained. Wisconsin likes to run. Their first string running back is hurt. If UH can limit the run game it will put pressure on Joel Stave who does not do well on 3rd and long situations.
2.) Hawaii now has 2 solid running backs. If UH can use the run to set up the pass, it will put less pressure on Wittek.
3.) Wisconsins defense has a hard time with the spread offense. Since most big 10 schools run the ball, their defense is not used to teams who spread the field.
4.) Wisconsins offensive line is weak...it's been a problem that head coach Paul Chryst has talked about on numerous occasions. If Guys like Luke or Kennedy go into the game prepared, they can stop the run and rush the quarterback.
5.) Wisconsins streak will come to an end eventually. Since 2003, Wisconsin has beaten a non BIG 10 School at home. That streak has to end eventually right?
In hindsight, which of course, is 20-20.

1) Wisconsin's running game was not contained.
2) UH's running game never got going.
3) Wisconsin's defense stuffed the spread offense.
4) Wisconsin's offensive line was over-powering.
5) Wisconsin's streak continues.

Wisconsin was just too good and hats off to Coach Chryst, his staff, players and supporters. That's what real college football is supposed to look like.

I am just happy the Badgers did not throw down the hammer. They could have easily scored a few more TDs if they pressed harder.

What a stark contrast of coaching. The Badgers made adjustments and improved throughtout the game while the Warrior stuck with the status quo.

^^^ Agreed. Wisconsin could easily have scored at least one more touchdown on their last drive but charitably chose to run out the clock instead to end the game.

I'm sorry... that our presumably crazy former-head coach recognized the talent in this young up-and-comer that would have taken us to the next level. Now, he's been passed on to the the elite programs. Thank you, admins and Norm Von Appen...er...Chow.

Chow apparently did not want coaches who could coach, but coaches with whom he could push around. Witness the high number of coaches who left the program under his guidance. Aranda earned the position at LSU and best wishes to him!

Not surprising that he achieved this status because he is really sharp. What is surprising is how fast it all happened. He was the DC at UH in 2011 and 5 years later he's at LSU as one of the highest paid assistants in the nation.

Aranda offered $2.6 mil

by Texas A&M to be a DC. That's an outrageous amount. I know it's not a UH topic and will move it in a day or so.

$2.5 million x 4 years? Wow. And no need to uproot family. What does the buyout clause say? Guaranteed money or a years salary upon termination for convenience/without cause, etc.?
