Re: Surfer rides 90 foot wave

Post by dakineguy »

Yeah that is one monster wave..... not sure how they measure them but there was an 85 foot wave that was widely touted as the biggest wave and then I heard of a 100 foot wave but then I guess that must have not been adequately proved because the internet chatter died off. There are a few individuals now looking for the record wave. One guy is training to sky dive into open ocean swells (along with a jet ski and driver) in an attempt to tow into 100 foot plus waves. I think they need more crew to film it not sure how that will happen. Can you imagine the rush from riding that thing? WHoa!!! I get a thrill from a wave with a 15 foot face.

I don't know - I'll look for other pics. I've seen pics of Laird at Jaws - and they "appear" to be mo big. But, could be angle and proximity of the shot. Still - awesome.

That is the second hundred foot wave people are saying he rode. The first one was 78 feet and this one doesn't look any bigger.

Pretty sure it's not a 100 foot wave. But still you gotta have BIG balls to ride that.

Garrette is a real character. Seems very interesting but it's his publicist or someone else saying it's 100 foot. Garrette is like ....he just wants to catch another big wave never mind the measurement.

The article says it will premier in June so probably not out yet. I did see a story of Eddie Aikau on TV already but this is a new one (I guess). It looks like the same people talking about him only older.
