Fresno State Football Team Food Stamp Fiasco

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno County social services employee has been arrested for welfare fraud and an Action News investigation has revealed a troubling connection to the Fresno State Bulldog football team.

Michael Martin was arrested August 12th on several felony charges including embezzling thousands of dollars. Some of the accusations stem from him signing off on welfare benefits to two dozen members of the 2010 Fresno State football team.

In the latest incident, university officials are assuming that all of the players under investigation are still with the team because "no announcements have been made," that anyone has left, said Shirley Armbruster, associated vice president for university communications.

Federal Offense against these players ... what they did already constitutes a crime by NCAA rules and they should all be suspended... repeated violations means suspended indefinitely, even if it's not a Booster related incident. ... Hope they all have access to good lawyers.
