Re: Cross Country 2018
After the Iolani Invitational I think the Maui Boys are legit. They impressed me with their group running and finished well in tough competition. Iolani and Punahou also did well in the team competition. I think the Boys Individual race will be tough with several boys running well early. Contenders ...

Re: Cross Country 2017
I haven't posted in on sportshawaii in awhile. Actually didn't even notice that hzy had started this discussion. I think it's pretty clear cut at the top for both boys and girls with Iolani and Seabury Hall/Punahou respectively. As for the runner-up spots, I think Kalaheo on the boys side is still p...

Re: cross country
Heard that the course used at CORP was a little short for Kaiser Invite. Not sure but just what I heard from some OIA coaches. For Divisionals at CORP the course went back to the previously measured one used last year for OIA Champs and HHSAA Champs. Teretere for States qualifying it all depends on ...

Re: cross country
On Oahu the boys side seems like Punahou and Iolani. Kamehameha has Kaeo Kruse but their other runners are further back diminishing team scoring. Girls side seems the same with Punahou and Iolani. OIA has Mililani but depends on how 3-5 run. Kaiser lost the twins and Lisa hasn't seemed herself durin...

Re: Is Kaiser's transfers being investigated?
I heard St Louis will knock-down their gym and build a new athletic facility. I think the locker rooms are adjacent, so presumably those will go, too. That should provide enough room for a new facility. Don't know about the adjacent quonset hut, which I think is used as a weight-room. (I'm not a St...

Re: cross country
They said at the coaches meeting that the 1 mile mark was 100 yards short, but all the other marks were correct. I wonder if they are measuring according the NFHS rules, which state that you don't measure the line marking the course. You measure the shortest route allowed on the marked course. I had...

Re: cross country
Following up on a thread from two years ago, can anyone involved with high school cross country in Hawaii tell me if public high schools are still required to do their training on campus only? I saw that this took effect in 2011 and I am curious if it was ever overturned. Thanks in advance for any ...

Re: cross country
In my opinion I think the individual favorites for the State are the defending champs from last year. Dakota Grossman of Seabury on the girls side to me should repeat, though Teri Brady (Pun) could make it interesting with another Brady pushing Dakota on Kauai. Davis "Ku" Kaahanui of Kameh...

Re: Track 2013
Here's some track news: OIA has decided to cancel meets this weekend due to forecast of rain. Sorry to see all money put into "All-weather" tracks, especially when you cannot use them in all weather. People please realize that rain doesn't stop practices and it won't stop Championships. Wh...

Re: 2012 High School Cross Country
The run into States is starting. Teams will be flying into Kona and driving into Waimea. All in preparation for this Friday's HHSAA Cross Country Championships at Hawaii Preparatory Academy. Let's go people...this season has been very quiet on the forum. Who do we expect to win D1 and D2? Individual...
