Re: 2012 High School Cross Country
It's just interesting how the various leagues created their advancement formulas. The Big Island Interscholastic Federation is taking 7 runners from each of the top two teams and five from each of the 3rd and 4th place teams in their league, regardless of Division level, so if no DII teams make plac...

Re: 2012 High School Cross Country
...so it looks like DI teams could potentially be "spoilers" in the DII championship, and vice versa. Also, if leagues don't have plan to advance DII designated teams into States, there could potentially be ZERO teams in the DII race, which would make the creation of a DII championship com...

Re: 2012 High School Cross Country
Does anyone know what percentage of the 160 runners in the Boys and Girls Races participating in States will be allocated for DII, or are the number of DII entries separate from DI? Also, did the ADs and Principals vote on the method of scoring the State meet? Last I heard, DI and DII would run in t...

Re: track and field
Congrats to the boys from Maui, Baldwin and King Kekaulike for their 1 - 2 finish at States. We all have our inter-state and inter-league rivalries, like the OIA and ILH or the neighbor islands and Oahu teams, but good competition drives everyone to compete at a higher level, which in the long run i...

hzy, 808HOTSHOTS also mentioned that she may have not heard the people in the crowd because of the noise, but either way it was an accidental violation, an honest mistake that would still have happened even after going thru an entire season of knowing the rules. I am not a parent, coach, athlete for...

Yes, the rules were explained before the event and probably more than once throughout the season and people in the stands tried to warn her, but do you think she left the shirt on intentionally? It was an accident that could have been caught by either another athlete or an official right there on th...

Re: 2011 High School track and field
There were many examples of good sportsmanship during the State Championship on Saturday, athletes wishing each other good luck, opponents cheering each other on and congratulating one another on their peformances, but one bad example was when the HPA girl walked onto the track for the last leg of t...

Re: 2011 High School track and field
There are currently 4 variations of the State Performance List: 1) The early incomplete version that was missing teams like Seabury (no longer posted) 2) The May 3, 11:23 AM version with the non-qualifiers removed, currently on the OIA Site, and 3) The May 3, 6:33 PM version which still has the non-...
