Re: Track and Field 2010

While we are talking about tripping, etc. I wanted to bring something I saw to light. In the 1500 girls race, Sophie Curatilo was DQ'd for tripping another runner, but did anyone else see her run completeley out of bounds by 4 to 5 steps and continue to run back onto the track during the 3000? I und...

Re: Track and Field 2010

808HOTSHOTS; Let me address your concerns, but bear in mind that what I write is my opinion and is drawn from my limited experience, and the last time I checked everyone in this GREAT country is allowed to express themselves. I did think about what I was writing before I posted it, and I'm not tryin...

Re: Track and Field 2010

IT'S SUCH A SHAME SOME PEOPLE WANT TO MAKE MONEY OFF PARENTS AND COACHES. The parents and coaches are the ones who spend not just money but time helping our young athletes. We volunteer, do fundraising, pay for shoes and equipment, you name it, probably one or the other has done it; FOR FREE! The f...

Re: Track and Field 2010

Thank you for your response TrkCoach. Do you know if the times were based on State Tournament times or times at the different meets? I started looking at some of last years times and I don't see enough of a difference compared percentage-wise with the other races to account for such a large drop in ...

Re: Track and Field 2010

Thanks 808HOTSHOTS. I understand that the girls in the Top 20 are 'consideration' (think about what that word means). But why the big drop in just one catagory, and just the girls to boot. Almost cries out as a Title IX concern. I think some clarification from HHSAA should be forthcoming, or if it i...

Re: Track and Field 2010

Not to change the subject, but the 2010 Standards were just posted and I for one find at least one catagory most disconcerting. Although most catagories were quicker by a small percentage I noticed that the Girls 3000 meter dropped by OVER 23 seconds. Not even the Boys 3000 meter changed by this amo...

Re: Track and Field 2010

So if they are cutting the number of competitors for each catagory, are they cutting the number of runners in the final events?

Re: Cross Country 2009

Looks to me like 800runner put a lot of thought in his picks, perhaps the most accurate I have seen of all, including some 'sportswriters'.

I wish all the athletes going to Kauai Good-Luck!

I will be there to watch my daughter run.

One last thing... GO MIL!

Re: Cross Country 2009

crosscartography101, and others; I think the reason the comments about the course length are being made is to explain the 'sudden' decrease in some times that are being shown. Even the BIIF meet seems a bit faster than the previous ones run on the Big Island, and no one can dispute that the times at...

Re: Cross Country 2009

todaresq, thanks for your answer. The reason it was asked was because this year is NOT the way it's been for years. With the cut in total runners at States, the MIL is sending almost 10 less runners of each gender. As far as the standards, I understand them. It's just a shame that because of the way...

Re: Cross Country 2009

Just a question about the breakdown for States, how are the number of athletes from each league calculated? Not to prejudice any particular league but BIIF seems to have a large number of spots to fill. Also was wondering about Wayne 'Big Dog' Joseph's top 10 picks. I know it's just his opinion but ...

Re: Cross Country 2009

whoewa70 has a good idea. I'm sure there are coaches here from each of the leagues, perhaps they can enlighten us all as to how many athletes from each league will be going to States and what the breakdown is by number of teams and individuals. I think it will contribute to the discussions here. Kee...

Re: Cross Country 2009

Wow, things seem to be shaking out and lining up. Interesting in 800runners predictions for the Girls, only 2 girls in the 15 listed are not from Oahu. The Boys seem to have a little more variety, shall we say. It will be interesting in the coming weeks, with basically only 2 more races and one of t...

Re: Cross Country 2009

I'm happy to see activity back on the forum. I think we as parents and supporters of High School Sports need to show our support by making our views better known to the DOE and HHSAA. Maybe if some (or all) of us wrote letters or e-mails to the people in charge of making the decisions about the spor...

Re: Cross Country 2009

This is why there needs to be discussions other than each weeks winners. There hasn't been a post since Tuesday. Anyway, are there any comments about the change in the number of maximum runners this year? A drop of like 40 athletes in each. What a shame the kids are getting short changed left and ri...
