Re: Cross Country 2019

Honestly the races played out almost exactly how I expected, particularly the boys race. The individual race came down to the wire between the same individuals that battled it out last year, and it looks like Shields put in the work to pull it off this time. It will be interesting to see if he can m...

Re: Cross Country 2019

Thought you might have been right, but it looks like the ACT is actually next week on the 26th. I suppose the upcoming league championships will give us the best sneak peak to date to see how everyone is feeling- as long as no one misses the meet to take the test. 😳

Re: Cross Country 2019

Two weeks left. The ILH has been interesting this year. Any idea why the Punahou boys and girls were mostly absent from the races yesterday?

Re: Cross Country 2019

Public schools can only attend one off island meet during the season, and Maui was at the Iolani Invite. The ILH season has been interesting. A canceled meet, and then today a course that was maybe 2.25 miles and not the 2.8 that was stated (based on the times). Was the girls race canceled because o...

Re: Cross Country 2019

Maui’s top 3 looked good, especially the top 2, but Punahou’s top 5 might prove strong enough to win. Still a lot of time left to see how things might play out, but it will go by quick!

Re: Cross Country 2019

There really isn't a course I've seen that spikes would be recommended, IMO. There's always spells of asphalt or concrete that would make it risky to do. I think the best would be to have spikeless cross country shoes with rubber nubs. You mentioned earlier how there are so many golf courses to run ...

Re: Cross Country 2019

Agree with the course measurement and makeup not being an exact gauge of team ability. The only true measure of how teams compare is how they perform against each other. I do disagree on one point, however (respectively, of course). Cross country teammates can help each other in three ways: pushing ...

Re: Cross Country 2019

Athletic.net has the most results compiled, but coverage and discussion of Hawaii cross country has been sparse since the passing of the Big Dog, Bob Martin, from Hawaii Island. His passion for the sport was more than evident, and his loss has been felt immensely. BIIF has a website, biifsports.com,...

Re: Cross Country 2018

I agree with most of your take whoeva. I don’t know what’s going on with Punahou recently, they haven’t had the pack they showed at the beginning of the season, but they have to be considered a contender in a race that doesn’t have a clear cut top team like last year’s Iolani squad. The Big Island s...

Cross Country 2018

Any informed predictions for the upcoming cross country season? Will Waiakea, Punahou, and Maui High give a challenge to Iolani? Will Seabury continue to dominate, at the least, DII?

Re: Cross Country 2017

Seabury girls have actually moved up to DI this season, hoping to get their due as the top girls team in the state. It will be interesting on the boys side. I don't see any team with depth past their fourth runner, aside from Iolani. Waiakea on the Big Island might be a sleeper for the runner-up tro...

Cross Country 2017

Cross country season is about to get going. Anybody have any thoughts?

Iolani looks to have a super-team returning on the boys side. Seabury girls bring almost everyone back. Any other contenders and challengers? Just the usual suspects (Punahou, Kamehameha, HPA, etc.)?

Re: cross country

Any info on why the times were so much slower at CORP this past weekend, compared to the times at the Kaiser Invite?
