Mullen ranked #1 in the nation at 285, 60+ ahead of second ranked Daniel Rowe of UCF. Very, very impressive.

Re: Preseason Top ten
Well in 2003, Aiea won the D2 state title. Just two years later, after being moved to the red division, they went on to make it to the OIA finals against Kahuku.. that's a pretty good showing if you ask me. Following that, however, they descended down the Red rankings, and after the tumultous 2008 s...

Re: State Titles
Now that we are quickly coming to the end of the high school sports seasons, I was wondering which graduating student-athlete has been part of the most state titles in their four years of high school. I guess the s-a would have to be a member of the varsity team, but not necessarily a major contrib...

Yonemuri played extremely well, and it is a shame we did notsee mori at his fullest after he was accidentaly kneed in the head during the match. I talked with him after and he said he had a concussion. Puna did excellent taking the 178 by force getting the ippon against Ostovich. Terao was extremel...

Re: Girls wrestling and judo-Hawaii lead the nation. Who car
Speaking on behalf of just wrestling, they are very capable of holding their own. This isn't a matter of boys vs girls wrestling, since the comparison isn't justified. It's comparing two totally different animals. Boys wrestling has been around for ages, while girls wrestling is beginning to emerge....

Re: *** Official HHSAA State Wrestling Championships ****
Look out for the Punahou Girls next few years, there placers consisted of 1 senior, 1 junior, and 4 Sophmores. Next year they add a big class of present 8th graders, Hernandez likely to have impact as a freshmen. Plus wrestlers out because of knee injury and school transfer expected to wrestle next...

InertYelp, That was "keep your head" as in stay focused, stay on track, keep your wits about you, in other words, keep your head on straight as you grow and advance into the future. -Skipwolf Sorry read that wrong. Saw "keep your head" and assumed there was up there, which means...

Re: *** Official HHSAA State Wrestling Championships ****
Signs of a great program are when you can win championships when the bounces don't go your way. For Punahou, 3 returning State Champs loose, two other significant upset looses in Peralta and Fukushima. The result, they win the State Championship with the second highest point total ever. Sani being ...

I wrote this in the wrestling threads, but it applies moreso here: Re: *** Official HHSAA State Wrestling Championships **** I was chagrined that my October 2009 comment that Dane Pa'ihi Pestano would be a contender in the 215 division was scoffed at. Pa'ihi has proved his scoffers wrong. I said on...

I was chagrined that my October 2009 comment that Dane Pa'ihi Pestano would be a contender in the 215 division was scoffed at. Pa'ihi has proved his scoffers wrong. I said on this website at that time: "Dane Pa'ihi Pestano of Waimanolo and Hawaii Tenri Judo, a Kamehameha 9th grader, will be a ...

Re: *** Official HHSAA State Wrestling Championships ****
Probably one of the most surprising state tournaments ever. 4 defending state champions go down.. 2 in the semi-finals (Buck, Fuimaono) and 2 in the finals (Hokoana, Sheehan). Granted, Hokoana's loss was to a defending state champion as well in Cooper, but to see day 2 go down the way it did was inc...

Re: Judo Predictions 2010
This is who I got for top 5 for boys: 1. Punahou period. Too much damn studs. But, without leg grabs? 2. Moanalua. They lost 7 seniors and out of the seven I believe four placed at states. With the palimoo transfer and a bunch of young gunners they will be back. 3. Roosevelt. Still a very tough tea...

Re: 2009-10 Wrestling State Championship Predictions
Good observation Pundad. 2005 had 4 competitive teams that the points were split among. This year, with basically Punahou as the favorite, Kamehameha shortly behind and Lahaina at 3rd, it will be difficult for teams to overcome Punahou's finalist. Both of the ILH top contenders have 12 competitors ...
