Re: 2021 Schedule, No D1 OOC Home Game
Thanks, I looked into, too and the regular season starts the weekend before labor day. So in 2021, that would be Sept 6, meaning the season starts on Sept 3-4. Aug 28 is definitely Week Zero. Too bad, as that makes scheduling more difficult. I think the new thinking on Week Zero is that it allows te...

Re: 2021 Schedule, No D1 OOC Home Game
Is the Aug. 28 game week 0? Talking about the 2021 season? Not sure if it is. Trying to do a Google search and nothing comes up. I originally thought the week 0 game had too be played here buy may be wrong. I thought it had to be in Hawaii, too, but the Cal game in Australia was week zero. The foll...

Re: Post SDSU Game Thoughts?
If not for that fumble on SDSU's 15 yard line, this game probably wouldn't have gone into overtime. SDSU was playing catch up for the entire second half, a score then would have put this game away. Eh, but was more exciting this way.

Re: Cole or chevan as starter for Hawaii bowl!
The Hawaii Bowl is about getting 16 more days of practice that your team wouldn't have had if it didn't get bowl eligible. That's 16 more days for the backups and red shirts to mix in with the starters and master their positions. 16 days to shine come Spring for the replacements. That's a big benefi...

Re: Week 1 vs Navy -- Pregame Thread
I don't recall, did JJ or Mac play Navy or Paul Johnson's teams before? I just want to see/know how did R&S did against the Option? Hawaii beat Navy in 1999 and 2009 then got walloped in 2013 under Chow. Games were always one score on the Hawaii wins. I believe Mack's game plan was to have the ...

Re: Moala transferring to Utah
Things like this happen when you lose a number of coaches. Especially the DC. Players are in limbo until the new coach is hired and onboard. And, even then, they might not like the new coach. From the departure of the previous coaches and the installing of the new coach, the poachers come around.

Re: Keala Santiago to transfer
We had a few season ending injuries and a couple of team dismissals on the Oline and Defensive Line, I think. Apparently Keala started 4 games last season when the defense started out with a three safety package.gpmcconnell wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2018 7:34 am Did we have this many transfers last year? I can't remember did Keala start?

Re: Dru Brown Transferring
I suppose that along with his grandfather's passing over the holidays, there's Dylan Collie's departure and the change in offensive strategy going into 2018 that helped push his decision to transfer. Looks like we're going back to the RnS for the most part. Don't know if it was a preferred choice or...

Re: 4 Vacant Coach Positions, what's taking so long to fill?
The head coaches all belong to a union and hiring has to undergo State hiring practices - from what I remember hearing. Does hiring assistant coaches also have to jump through these hoops too? UH may be the only school athletic program that is hampered by this. I believe the head coach has most of ...

Re: Will Rolo "Clean House"???
Too early to clean house. Got to wait till all the coaches have their own recruits in place. So far, it's only been 2 recruiting seasons, the first being hampered by "cleaning house" from the previous group of coaches. Without stability within the coaching team, we'll never get better. Tha...

Re: Will Rolo "Clean House"???
By fall camp of 2018, anywhere from 60-70 of the scholarship players will be those offered by Rolo. The remainder will be recruits that committed prior to Rolo being hired, including those that signed on during Rolo's inaugural year but whose scholarship offers were honored by Rolo. Half of these wi...

Re: How Hawaii Can Return To Glory - The ONLY WAY
Didn't a lot of the COA monies come from donations to fund the COA? If the donation pot is only so big, and new donors reluctant or non-existent, then where to find the funding? Robbing Peter to pay Paul and Paulette is not a good idea when UH's overall funding from the State Legislature can't supp...
