I got a call first thing this morning from Dr. Bob with news that the bacterial culture taken last Friday (when she had that fever) turned out positive after 48 hours.  Maddie had to be taken back in today for another culture and more antibiotics through IV.  Dr. Bob says it’s possible that since the bacteria is showing positive for a staph infection on the skin, it could have simply been a contaminated culture – if this subsequent culture comes back positive again for the same bacteria in the next 48 hours, they’ll have to find another antibiotic which may mean another admission in the hospital.  We’ll keep you updated…
