Congratulations to UH high jumpers Amber Kaufman and Emily Sheppard, who placed 5th and 6th respectively in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. Kaufman cleared 6 feet, while Sheppard cleared 5-10.75 feet.

In the heptathalon, Annett Wichmann is currently in 12th place after the first four events, with 3,305 points. The final three events, the long jump, javelin and 800-meter, will be held Saturday. CBS will be broadcasting live from the championships from 3-5 p.m. CST (10 a.m.-12 p.m. HST), so there’s a chance UH fans will get a chance to see Wichmann compete.

Kaufman will next compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials at the end of the month. Kaufman earned the invitation following her gold-medal winning performance at the Western Athletic Conference Championship.
