Ever thought about asking Jim Donovan, “What are the chances of getting some future opponents from the Big XII??” or “With the addition of PPV in HD, are there any additional plans to encourage fans to come to the game over watching it at home?” You can get those answers and ask Jim questions for yourself the first Monday of every month. It is usually at 10:00 AM and it you can find it in the “First and 10 with Jim Donovan” forum. Jim gives us 1 hour a month out of his busy schedule, he truly stays in touch with the community and the fans. Thank you so much for doing such a great job Jim! Next 1st and 10 with Jim Donovan will be rescheduled for the Tuesday after Labor Day 9/8. If you can’t make the live chat then we usually open a thread to ask questions 1 week prior.
Jim also shares with us upcoming events, announcements or updates related to the world of athletics at the University of Hawaii Manoa. Here are August’s updates:
We’re produced a “modest” Annual Report for the UH Athletics Department. We will be including the report as in insert in the ESPN 1420 Magazine due to be distributed in September. We will also have it online at our website once it’s been mailed to our season ticket holders.
We have a financial section, facilities section, Koa Anuenue section, corporate partner section and gender equity section. We’ve also included the 2008-09 highlights for the department and bullet points for the 2009-2014 UHAD Strategic Plan.
I’d like to do something more in depth in future years, but because of our current budget situation, I felt this product was the most affordable and still conveyed “where we are at”.
By next month, I should be able to give you all of the details on the Centennial Celebration fundraiser for UH football and the Coach Shoji’s “1000 4 1000” fundraiser (which is 1,000 people donate $100 each to raise $100,000 for Wahine Volleyball to celebrate Dave Shoji’s 1,000th win which we expect to happen this season).
We are having our 3rd Manoa Makeover for the makai campus before the start of fall semester. The purpose is to do general clean-up, painting, etc., to make the makai campus area look better. The event day is August 15th, 7:30 am – 12:30 pm. If you’d like to help out, please contact Sis at:
