It was a beautiful day at Kapiolani Park, the emotion and excitement was pedal to da metal! Kenny Patton, Chad Owens and all of the other amazing coaches who generously gave back to Hawaii were the catalyst to this grand event. The coaches did a great job communicating, mentoring and teaching the kids vital skills and life lessons. You could tell that they were having the time of their lives and the coach’s message was clearly getting through to them.
The morning sessions ended with scimmages by age groups and this looked to be the highlight of the day for the kids. For the two lower age groups it was shirts vs. skins and the competitive juices were flowing with huge smiles on their faces. The oldest group did an offense vs. defense scrimmage and the intensity was fierce. There were a few good licks and the offense came up with more then a few long gains.
At 4:00 PM the All Poly Camp went into overdrive with an all star coaching staff. Listening to all of the coaches talk and inspire the kids was truly a privilege. Their ability to connect and get their message to hit home was inspirational. After the introductions and warm ups the kids went to stations by positions. A lot of instruction was given and the kids hit the field hard and participated with enthusiasm. Tomorrow will be full pads so the kids will be able to leave it all on the field.
I took almost 400 photos on day 1 and they should be up by the end of the week. Great camp so far and thank you again Linda for inviting SportsHawaii.com
